Trees. What would the world be like without them?
They absorb carbon dioxide and give us oxygen. They supply us with shade to cool us, wood to burn and heat us and cook our food, build our homes, furniture, boats and so many things we use. They are home to squirrels, birds, many arboreal creatures and are a resting place to an occasional sleepy bear.
As is the case with all living things today, they are at the top of their current evolutionary journey, a journey that is still ongoing.
They make our world more beautiful and many display a different scene to us with each season. Some produce food for creatures, including us. In death they return to the earth their chemical building blocks for future generations.
In short, they enhance all life on earth.
