Stark can be beautiful, but then beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I experimented with this shot by converting it to black and white but preferred the look of it in color. Granted, there is not much color here but that makes this image more of a "shape and texture" scene. The irregular trunks and the brown bark contrast with the new snow that lay on the branches and encrust the grasses and fallen vegetation on the ground.
