In late June, 2012 the Waldo Canyon Wildfire breached the Front Range and entered the western part of Colorado Springs. Soon we were evacuated from our home and stayed with friends about 10 miles east of the foothills. On one of those nights the sunset was spectacular due to a combination of clouds and lots of smoke -some call them "pyrocumulus clouds".
