Tarryall Reservoir

Tarryall Reservoir

I have always thought that the September sky in Colorado was always its most striking color of blue. That was certainly true of this day.

Tarryall State Wildlife Area lies along Colorado State Route 77. The reservoir sits at 8865 feet and is fed by Tarryall Creek. The surrounding terrain is like a valley between mountain ranges. That sometimes results in windy conditions.
However, on 18 September, 2012 at 10:36 A.M., I was stunned that the surface of the water was perfectly calm which allowed for a perfect reflection!
Although the composition is a bit unbalanced, my intent was to encompass as much of the reflected landscape as possible.
A few minutes after I had taken this photo, the winds came and the this moment in time would have been lost.
As I said, luck comes into play!
