Beaver Dam in Cottonwood Creek near Cottonwood Pass, Colorado

Cottonwood Pass Road rises from the center of Buena Vista, Colorado and crosses the Continental Divide at 12,126 feet. The various forks of Cottonwood Creek (this is part of the Middle Fork) drain down the east side of the Divide on their way to the Arkansas River and, eventually, to the Atlantic Ocean.
