15. Sandflower, Close-up, 9 August 2014
There are many varieties of sunflowers and this type, often called a "sandlower", grows along the streets and sidewalks of Colorado Springs in mid to late summer. This close-up reveals good detail of the flower and using a wide aperture permitted a narrow depth-of-field which created a nice bokeh (background that is out of focus).
